ABOUT US
MISSION STATEMENT
FLUTES4KIDS is dedicated to counteracting the high cost of private lessons, outdated teaching methods, and financial barriers to pursuing musical aspirations in Jacksonville, FL.
FLUTES4KIDS offers sectionals funded by the band program, incorporates 21st-century techniques into the curriculum, and is working towards being able to provide scholarships to young flutists. Our work is guided by the principles of charity and preparedness, ensuring that students are equipped with the tools they need to succeed.
OUR CURRICULUM
The primary focus is on developing strong fundamentals, including breath control, tone quality, intonation, articulation, and rhythmic precision. By integrating these skills with advanced techniques like harmonics and scales, we aim to build a solid technical foundation that allows for expressive and confident playing.
Additionally, the curriculum emphasizes ensemble collaboration, encouraging flutists to listen, blend, and adapt within both small and large groups. Through exercises such as Bach chorales, sight-reading, and repertoire study, students learn to balance technical discipline with musical artistry. Ultimately, our goal is to equip flutists with the skills needed to perform with clarity, musicality, and confidence in any setting.
