YOUNG ARTIST
RECITAL SERIES
Dedicated to
Kimberlee Aliapoulios
In high school, my band director, Kimberlee Aliapoulios, challenged my flute partner and me to memorize Franz Doppler's Andante et Rondo. If we did, she promised to hire a string quartet to play with us.
We did, and she kept her word. That performance became one of the defining moments that led me to pursue music performance.
That experience sparked the FLUTES4KIDS concerto competition. Today, we give high school and college flutists that same challenge and the same opportunity to perform with a string quartet.
